Forget X: the real rebrand is about the letter y

Wellington, July 25 (JY&A Media) Forget X: there’s only one rebrand that Wellington-based company Jack Yan & Associates cares about this week, brought to you by the letter y.
The design, branding and strategy arm of the firm, JY&A Consulting, becomes JYA Creative today, along with a new symbol made up of six interlocked ys.
A new site accompanies the rebrand, located at jya.co.
The business brings together earlier JYA Creative talent: founder Jack Yan, director of branding Demian Rosenblatt, and creative futurist Stefan Engeseth. Added to the mix are colleagues that have worked closely with other parts of the business: director of design Islam Brindle, who oversees the Middle East and North Africa, marketing strategist Devin Colvin, and graphic designer Frankie Knowsley.
As a company that has worked virtually since the 1980s, before the term was even coined, JYA Creative has covered four continents with its team, taking on projects around the clock for clients seeking an experienced team in design, identity and branding, and marketing strategy.
Its identity and brand work is founded on its own proprietary, real-world academic research linking brands to business performance, a major point of differentiation for the firm.
Cultural awareness is another strength, with its international team, with its main base in Wellington, New Zealand, with Stockholm, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and Cairo its other locations. The crew covers a multitude of cultures and languages between its members.
The new symbol marks a new beginning for the business, replacing one that Jack Yan drew during an economics lecture while studying at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington in 1991. Most of the team members have worked together since the turn of the century.
